SUMMARY:CERT-SO EOW Ruck
DESCRIPTION:Please click this link to signup to volunteer. \nGoing into its eighth year\, the annual End of Watch Memorial Ruck\, will continue its third year using a format that was started in 2022 titled “10-42”. 10-42 is a common radio code for “at home/out of service” or “End of Watch” with many law enforcement agencies. This code is often used at a fallen officers’ memorial service to mark the end of their watch. During this event\, the participants will carry a one-pound weight that bears the name of an officer who died in the line of duty in 2024 for one mile. We’ve been asked to have a volunteer available for first aid and any general assistance that might be needed.  Some of these shifts are longer\, if you can’t work the entire shift\, any help is appreciated.  We will not have a team captain onsite so you will need to be self sufficient. More information is available on their website: https://www.eowf.org/ \nDue to liability concerns\, minors (children under 18) are not permitted to volunteer or accompany our CERT volunteers during events. With any event we work\, please make sure to bring necessary personal items such as hydration\, snacks\, sunscreen\, chairs or any other items you may need for the incident (traffic vests\, etc.) While we strive to have supplies at each event\, please be prepared in case something comes up that prevents your access to these supplies at the event. SUMMARY:ARES-Field Day
DESCRIPTION:This year our event will be located on beautiful Navarre Beach at the Black Skimmer Pavilion. \n \nARRL Field Day is a radio communications event that brings together amateur radio operators (also called “hams”) within your community. The theme for 2025 Field Day is “Radio Connects” – highlighting the many ways that wireless technology connects people across distances near and far. The event is part picnic\, campout\, practice for emergencies\, informal contest\, and most of all\, fun! ARRL Field Day is the most popular ham radio activity held annually in the US and Canada. On the fourth weekend in June each year\, more than 31\,000 hams get together with their radio clubs\, schools\, or friends to operate from remote locations. \nARRL Field Day is an annual demonstration and invites the general public and organizations to see how amateur radio can serve in an emergency\, When All Else Fails®. Hams are well-known for their communications support in real disaster and post-disaster situations. Despite the development of very complex\, modern communications systems — or maybe because they are so complex — ham radio has been called into action\, again and again\, to provide communications in crises when it really matters.
